Although unlike reinforcements in the last game you’re given a brief warning of their approach, and the chance to prepare for them. Towards the end of the level you see a new version of the berserker enemy appear, along with some robot back-up. The viper is pretty bizarre but using its tongue to reel in enemies from a distance and then constrict them to death looked very difficult to counter. The new enemies include the viper, a reworking of the snakeman enemy from the original game, that was the only one not to feature in the reboot – because developer Firxaxis thought they were just a bit too silly. The game world also seems more destructible, with the cover in the demo rarely lasting more than a couple of rounds. But other new features for everyone include the ability to pick up and carry injured soldiers, and a loot system that tempts you into combing the battlefield for alien detritus. The specialist (who has a salt of the earth English accent in the demo) is a hacker, who has a drone that can move independently in order to hack enemy turrets, and presumably other alien equipment.
